Welcome To Our Detroit Danger
The Detroit Danger is an elite level (referring to the playing level of our team), amateur women’s baseball team which began its first season in June 2001. The Danger is a member of the Great Lakes Women’s Baseball League (GLWBL) along with the Chicago Storm, the Cleveland Comets, the Manitoba Taffy, the Motown Magic, and the South Bend Blue Sox. Two new teams, the Chicago Gems and the Minnesota Miracle, may be joining the GLWBL in 2004. The Danger played as the Metro Detroit Renegades in 2000. The Metro Detroit Renegades/Detroit Danger became the first-ever women’s baseball team in history in Southeast Michigan when it began its inaugural season in 2000. The Danger is a member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) of the United States as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization within the AAU women’s baseball division. The team’s home field is the brand new Madonna University Field in Livonia. The official hotel of the Detroit Danger is the Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel in Southfield (soon to be a Hilton hotel). The Detroit Danger is proud to celebrate its 5th season in 2004. The team was founded in 1998 by Danger Owner/GM/Player Shawn Macurio, and it played its first game in 2000 as part of the Michigan Women’s Baseball League an event proudly sponsored by
The Detroit Danger consists of women with various levels of baseball and fast pitch softball experience. This includes little league, high school, and amateur baseball experience, and little league, high school, amateur, and collegiate fast pitch softball experience.
The Detroit Danger is currently recruiting for the 2004 season. If you are an adult female with baseball and/or fast pitch softball experience, and if you are interested in trying out, please contact us. We will sign players as young as 14 who possess exceptional skills, talent, and maturity. Skill, commitment, enthusiasm, motivation, the desire to achieve excellence, and a positive attitude are what we are seeking.
The Detroit Danger is always interested in adding qualified coaches to its staff. If you have baseball and/or fast pitch softball coaching experience, and if you are interested, please contact us. If you would like to be an assistant or an intern for the Danger, please contact us.
The Detroit Danger is very active in the community, as its members volunteer to help many charities and youth organizations in the Detroit area. The charities/youth organizations that the Danger currently works with are the Detroit Tigers, Don Bosco Hall, Jack’s Place for Autism, Sandcastles Grief Support of Henry Ford Hospices, and the Youth Sports and Recreation Commission of Detroit. We, along with various women’s baseball organizations, teams and leagues throughout the world, are dedicated to and are striving to heighten the awareness, levels and standards for and participation in women’s baseball. We (female baseball players) take pride in the fact that we play baseball out of the extreme passion we have for the game.

DETROIT DANGER MISSION STATEMENT
The Detroit Danger mission is to provide Metro Detroit and Michigan with the most competitive, elite women’s baseball team possible which will compete in various baseball competitions (league and non-league) around the world, and to provide to women the opportunity to play baseball at an elite level.
